Why do so many Christian leaders look nothing like Jesus as they lead? Is it even possible to pursue leadership without doing damage to our souls and hurting the people we’re trying to serve? If you have followers, you’re a leader. To serve them well, you need to lead well. But that doesn’t just mean learning to lead effectively in terms of getting things done; it means learning to lead faithfully, loving God and others with genuine integrity and Christlike character. None of us can be failure-free leaders, but by God’s grace, all of us can learn to be faithful leaders. Mission Central is for emerging leaders: both young leaders and those who are getting their start in leadership, regardless of their age. We want to help you start right, leading faithfully from the beginning. Our podcast conversations focus on four elements of healthy Christian leadership: spiritual formation, effective leadership, emotional health, and multi-ethnic community. Our diverse group of guests speak with conviction and wisdom about these topics. Plus, they offer clear next steps to help you put their ideas into practice wherever you lead. Visit missioncentral.church for full interviews, our bi-weekly blog, and info on in-person Christian leadership development events in the Chicago area.

What if God was doing in your heart was so solid that it made a difference in the lives of everyone around you?
That's the promise of "spiritual formation"—a process of being conformed to the image of Christ for the sake of others.
But how does that process really work? So often when we pursue spiritual growth, we get stuck. Progress eludes us. Looking at our own shortcomings can feel laborious and leave us feeling guilty. Is there a way to lean into this process that's joyful and emotionally healthy? What does the Bible really say about it?
Bethany Allen, Pastor of Spiritual Formation & Leadership Development at Bridgetown Church in Portland, Oregon lives these questions every day as she helps volunteers, leaders, and ordinary Christians put their faith into practice. She offers warm and welcome guidance for those who want to take a step toward wholeness.
